Jenn believes that counselling is most effective with a strong client/counsellor relationship. She counsels from an empathic and collaborative approach. Her desire is to create a place of emotional safety for her clients. Clients often tell her that they feel comfortable and understood in session.
She has trained under some of the foremost leaders in counselling in North America. To provide clients with the most current tools in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy she has trained under Dr. David Burns. Training with Sue Johnson in Emotion Focused Therapy has informed her practice in individual as well as couples counselling. She also has completed levels 1 & 2 of Gottman Couples Counselling.
She understands that faith can be an important part of some clients’ lives. Therefore, upon request she can incorporate aspects of faith in the counselling process. If you do not want to include spirituality in your treatment, she believes in respecting client’s needs and will create a treatment plan strictly based upon psychological principles.
It is important that the relationship between the client and therapist be strong. In order to help facilitate that she offers a free 20-minute consultation. This can be done over the phone or in person at the office. This will help you know if she is a good fit for you as well as to ask any questions you may have.
