Anxiety Counselling

Anxiety can be one of the most debilitating things you can experience. It is painful physically, mentally and emotionally. We feel as though we have lost control in life. We live in a heightened sense of fear. It can be a frightening experience to go through.

Anxiety comes from suppressing our emotions. We may not like them, we may be afraid of them so we choose (consciously or unconsciously) to push them away. The emotion then acts like a beach ball and anxiety rebounds back. It can be painful physically and mentally. Some of the physical symptoms that one should watch for with anxiety include:

  • headaches,
  • dry mouth,
  • tension in the shoulders and neck.
  • clenching our jaw,
  • itchy body, heart beating faster and stronger,
  • chest feeling tight,
  • harder to take a deep breath
  • nausea,
  • fidgety hands or nail biting,
  • frequent urination or diarrhea, tense or bouncing legs and fidgety feet
  • Racing thoughts
  •  Thinking people are judging
  • Trouble sleeping

Do you recognize some of these symptoms?

“Worrying is carrying tomorrow’s load with today’s strength- carrying two days at once. It is moving into tomorrow ahead of time. Worrying doesn’t empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.”

― Corrie Ten Boom
