Gurjeet believes in the potential for deep healing and growth through psychotherapy. He works to establish a strong and safe therapeutic relationship where you can speak openly and honestly. Many problems and symptoms can arise when there are emotions or aspects of life we are avoiding, numbing out, or pushing away. He believes healing occurs when we are able to face and work through these difficult emotions in a safe and nourishing therapeutic setting. His perspective on therapy is that it is a journey of self-discovery in which you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and reflect on your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Gurjeet will work together with you to identify patterns and find new ways of being.
Gurjeet holds a Master of Counselling degree and is a Registered Provisional Psychologist. He uses psychodynamic therapy (including somatic therapy) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to address the difficulties you come into therapy with. He is currently taking comprehensive training in Hakomi mindfulness-based somatic psychotherapy. This approach works from the five principles of mindfulness, organicity, nonviolence, mind-body integration, and unity. His specialized areas of practice include addictions, chronic pain, multicultural issues, and highly sensitive people.
Gurjeet offers 20-minute free consultations to answer any questions, and also offers evening availability.
